Sea trout numbers have declined significantly nationally.  NDSFB is targeting resources specifically to assist sea trout stocks within their jurisdiction.  The Board is maintaining its anti poaching efforts in areas traditionally targeted by sea trout poachers.  In addition habitat works are planned to benefit this species specifically.  Sea trout have always constituted part of the Board's hatchery stock, however to increase the number of Sea trout produced in the hatchery compromises the numbers of Salmon that can be produced.  In order that the Board can fulfill all of its restocking requirements, plans have been made to provide additional hatchery capacity.
